SWR-Jazzpreis
Member of the expert jury for SWR-Jazzpreis
The SWR Jazz Prize is the oldest jazz prize in Germany. The jury consists of two representatives each from the SWR and the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, a member of a jazz organisation and two independent music critics. The prize is endowed with 15,000 euros.
Liz Kosack was awarded the prize in 2019.
The keyboardist and synthesizer specialist favors open concepts of improvisation, performs live only with a self-made mask and loves to “undermine expectations”, as she says on SWR2. As a member of the KIM collective, Liz Kosack repeatedly realizes impressive concert evenings in multimedia performance formats and questions the traditional parameters of jazz.
The awarding of the SWR Jazz Prize 2019 to Liz Kosack took place during the Enjoy Jazz festival on 7.11. in Ludwigshafen. She performed together with her band VAX.

Panelist “50 years ECM records”
By invitation of Enjoy Jazz Festival three old white patriarchal “jazz critics” and me discussed the label’s history, before the concert of Carla Bley. As the only woman on the panel it was truly horrendous. Never again.
